Symbolic Meaning:
Coral was once believed to be a flower, but in fact is the transformed skeleton of sea animals. Many cultures throughout history believed that coral had healing properties and this belief is now confirmed by science - ashes from burned coral heal wounds and ulcers, and coral powder dissolved in water is an effective pain-killer.  Coral has been used in decorative art objects throughout history, partcularly in Asia.  It is believed to prevent ill fortune and to bring about success.  Coral is one of the five sacred stones of the Tibetan Buddhists, symbolizing the energy of life force.
